报告题目:Enantioconvergent Redox-Neutral Functionalization of Alcohols via Borrowing Hydrogen Catalysis

报告摘要:

The development of economical and selective catalytic methods is of significant importance for the promotion of sustainable chemical synthesis. My group at National University of Singapore has focused on the identification of catalytic enantioselective redox-neutral transformations that directly convert feedstock materials to valuable chiral entities with wide application in organic synthesis. In particular, we have achieved a series of direct stereoconvergent “substitution” of readily available racemic alcohols via borrowing hydrogen catalysis for economical access to chiral amines, N-heterocycles, alcohols and ketones, etc. Recent progress in identifying new catalytic processes along these lines will be discussed in details in this presentation.

 

报告人简介: 

ZHAO Yu, associate professor in Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore. He obtained B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University (2002), and Ph.D. in Chemistry with Profs. Marc L. Snapper & Amir H. Hoveyda, Boston College (2008). In 2008-2011, he worked as Postdoctoral associate with Prof. Richard R. Schrock in Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He worked as Assistant Professor of Chemistry, NUS from 2011 to 2017. Now he is Associate Professor of Chemistry, NUS, and Dean’s Chair Associate Professor, NUS (2019-2022). His research interest includes the discovery and development of efficient, selective as well as economical catalytic methods for chemical synthesis, with an emphasis on asymmetric catalysis. He won the Asian Rising Stars Lectureship Award, 18th Asian Chemical Congress, FACS (2019), Tokyo Chemical Industry-SNIC Industry Award in Synthetic Chemistry (2018), Outstanding Chemist Award, Department of Chemistry, NUS (2017), Thieme Chemistry Journal Award (2016), Young Scientist Award, Faculty of Science, NUS (2015), and other related awards.
